About Me

Jan Sigrist – BIM Specialist, Lecturer, and Founder of Bimatic

From Foundation to Automation

Innovation Through Fresh Perspectives

Since May 2025, I have been working as an independent BIM specialist with Bimatic GmbH. My approach: From surveying through BIM to IoT integration – a holistic view of digital transformation in infrastructure construction.

What sets me apart: 14+ years of experience from surveying to BIM automation. The combination of practical project experience at Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group and academic expertise as a guest lecturer at FHNW. I know the challenges of daily project work and develop solutions that really work.

Core competencies: AI integration (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI), IfcOpenShell, Blender, Python, Dynamo, Grasshopper, Autodesk Civil 3D, Revit, Solibri, NavisWorks – from open-source to enterprise solutions, enhanced by cutting-edge AI technology.

AI & LLM Integration

AI-optimized workflows with Anthropic Claude and OpenAI. Custom bot development, prompt engineering, LLM-assisted script generation for BIM processes.

BIM & CAD Expertise

IfcOpenShell, Blender, Solibri, Revit, Civil 3D, InfraWorks, NavisWorks. Specialization in infrastructure, civil, and building engineering.

Automation & Development

Python, VBA, Dynamo, Grasshopper. Development of customized scripts and workflows to increase efficiency in planning processes.

Geomatics & Surveying

14+ years of experience in surveying, GPS, UAV, OpenGeodata. Solid foundation from surveying to 3D modeling.

My Philosophy

Holistic Approach

BIM is more than software operation. It's about the entire process: From precise surveying through BIM modeling to integration with IoT data for digital twins. I guide you through the entire digitalization process.

Practicality Over Theory

Solutions must work in daily project operations. Through my experience at Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group and AFRY, I know the challenges in large projects: time pressure, capacity bottlenecks, complex requirements. My solutions are field-tested and directly implementable.

Efficiency Through AI & Automation

Repetitive tasks tie up valuable capacity. With AI-optimized workflows (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI) and custom Dynamo and Grasshopper scripts, I intelligently automate processes. Custom bots generate code, optimize workflows, and create space for the truly important planning tasks. This saves time, reduces errors, and exponentially increases productivity.

Knowledge Transfer

As a lecturer at FHNW, knowledge sharing is important to me. I offer not only services but also training and workshops – so your team can work independently and benefit from BIM competence in the long term.
